It’s happening right now, and you can board the Peace Train via live video streaming here, a song which Yusuf a.k.a. Cat Stephens has incidentally just finished performing.
A post!? is it somewhat of a comeback in the making? Quite a happening that rally, even for those of us following from afar. Waytago Jon and Steve
The comeback begins now, one small and insubstantial post at a time.
By the way, one of my favourite parts of the rally—Yusuf and Ozzy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoIjLFmit84
It was a little hard seeing Peace Train being interrupted (as my friend called him: Yusuf “I never ever play in public…ever” Islam, but otherwise, very funny stuff. Unfortunately I’ve been singing Crazy Train all day. Apparently Reasonableness didn’t poison my fear enough.
Yeah really, many people said this. It was a very profound moment: Yusuf, a man who had once said he would never play again, and not so long ago on a no-fly watch list in this country, performing a song about joining together peacefully, very much in the spirit of reasonableness which the Rally was promoting, and then he is suddenly thrown off the train by Stephen Colbert. Even though it was of course scripted, one did feel anything but peaceful towards Colbert for doing so.
